Cardio Kickboxing is a sport-specific equipment-based fitness program.
The techniques use conventional heavy bags, speed bags and training pads, based on
kickboxing techniques which provide both resistance training and cardio
vascular benefits to its participants.
What day and time are classes held?
We have a normal weekly
Our
class is scheduled at the same time so come on out and get fit while your child learns martial arts.
Are classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. No previous experience is necessary; our instructors
are able to work with students of any skill level.
We have students of all ages and abilities.
Look to your Instructor for guidance for you specific goals.
At the beginning of the class, the instructor should teach various techniques
and allow you to practice them. The Instructor will demonstrate
how to kick and punch without overextending or locking your joints.
The instructor can show you how to modify different moves so that they
are comfortable for you and are executed safely and correctly.
Pay attention to what feels right to your body. Kick at a level that
is comfortable to you. Don't do a move that hurts, even if you
are doing it correctly. Take breaks or stop if you feel
tired. Drink plenty of water throughout the class.
Do not wear or hold weights when punching or kicking. Although using
weights can help develop your aerobic fitness in certain programs, the
risk of joint injury outweighs the benefits for the beginning kickboxer.
Remember that this activity is not a self-defense course.
What if I'm not flexible and cannot kick high?
Your flexibility and range of motion will gradually increase with the
workouts, the stretching, and cool down. The instructor might
be a high kicker to demonstrate the skill and results of hard work but,
this is mostly to inspire you and not to discourage you. In
the meantime there are modifications to high kicks such as knee raises
or low kicks that still work the same leg and hip muscles. Just
remember that a low kick is just as effective as a high kicks.
What do your students wear?
T-shirt and shorts or sweats and
. We have some spare gear for temporary use but each student is expected to purchase their own personal gear within 30 days.

borrow—so you can get started right away. After 30 days of
membership, we ask that our students purchase their own basic gear (so our spare

What are the advantages of Cardio Kickboxing | Boxing?
This intense, total-body workout can improve strength, aerobic fitness,
flexibility, coordination, and balance. During a one-hour kickboxing
workout, you can burn from 700 to 900 calories, which is up to twice the
calories you burn during a one-hour step-aerobics class.
How old must the student be?
Our Adult groups start at age 14.
Am I too old?
NO! We have students of all ages, abilities and
goals. We've found that a mixture of age groups in a class is
beneficial to all. Each age group can learn something from the other.
At Cook's Impact, our class atmosphere is friendly and open, which allows
people of all ages to work at their own pace and ability. We will
try to push you to your limits, not anyone else's limit.
Look to your Instructor for guidance for your specific goals.
You may be past your
prime but can still become competent, gain confidence, improve your self-esteem
and get in shape!
How do I get the most out of the class?
Pay attention, Participate, Practice, and above all, have Patience with
yourself!
The exercises in class are taught to help you build core muscles and endure the
movements of the techniques. If you start to fake a few exercises here
and there you are losing out. Every movement and every exercise
should be done to the fullest and the best of your ability. This is
the only way to surpass your current limitations.
Will this class give me the skills to defend myself?
Not as it's taught. In most classes, you'll be shadow boxing.
While your bag work and drills can prepare you physically for a struggle with an attacker.
You won't practice shouting for help or learn how to lower your chances
of being assaulted.
If you want to learn self-defense tactics, take the Cook's Impact Academy
Do you offer private lessons?
